Art by Beth Wilts Page 37

Stamps Used:

  • 27001 J Dictionary

This the third of several pieces I created in a class I took at Art and Soul Portland 2006.  The class was called Luminous Collaging Techniques. Basically after creating a simple collage with acrylics, we used oil paints to enhance and illuminate. I used bright magenta on the left and raw umber on the right.

The girl's cap and the white in the bird postcard were highlighted with the new Uniball Signo white pen I am selling on the Miscellaneous Page of my website.

The image of the girls is from from Tuscan Rose CD #1.  She was named "photo young girl with birds and bird cage".

The bird card was a scan of a card I bought in an antique store. The image have been included in the free vintage gallery #3 for you to download.

Stamps Used:

  • 43001 J Summer is cumen in music

This the first of several pieces I created in a class I took at Art and Soul Portland 2006.  The instructor was Phoenix Forrester and the class was called Luminous Collaging Techniques. Basically after creating a simple collage with acrylics, we used oil paints to enhance and illuminate.  I was amazed at the effect.  The richness added by the oil paints was amazing.

There is glitter in the halo of the angel, but the scan was not able to pick it up.

The angel image was a scan of a card I bought in an antique store. The image have been included in the free vintage gallery #3 for you to download.

Stamps Used:

  • 49001 I Pattern pieces

This the second of several pieces I created in a class I took at Art and Soul Portland 2006.  The class was called Luminous Collaging Techniques. Basically after creating a simple collage with acrylics, we used oil paints to enhance and illuminate.

There is glitter in the lace surrounding the woman, but the scan was not able to pick it up.

The skin soap image was a scan of a card I bought in an antique store. The image have been included in the free vintage gallery #3 for you to download.

Stamps Used:

  • 52001 J Baroque background

  • 57005 G Acanthus border

The piece was created for the band Far From Kansas, a band from the San Francisco area.  I was asked to create the cover art for their new album. You have no idea how flattered I was by the offer. How could I possibly turn them down?

I used the The Ghost Inside of You for me inspiration.

You can hear a bit of their music online at http://myspace.com/farfromkansas.

The acanthus border was covered with tissue paper after it was painted to push it into the background.  The yellow and gold were just to "hot" and pull the focus off the angel and the moth. The tissue paper muted the colors but didn't change the image.  I like the effect.

Stamps Used:

  • 22001 J Herb dictionary

  • 54005 F Baroque corner

The piece was inspired by Sept/Oct 2004 issue of Somerset Studio.  The theme of the issue is "Fruits of the Harvest".

I found the pear fruit crate label and image of the pear (it is transparent because I transferred it) on the internet.  Both images have been included in the free vintage gallery for you to download.

Combinations burnt sienna and  hansa yellow light, and burnt sienna ultramarine blue to make to the various shades of copper.  Metallic gold paint was to paint in the corners and highlight the embossed paper.

The border on the left is cut out from a sheet of the Embossed Paper #2 from England.
